Co-trainer Trent Edmonds has high hopes for Gold Coast-winning two-year-old The Drinks Cart.

The Edmonds training partnership is plotting another Magic Millions 2YO Classic win after their colt The Drinks Cart made a sparkling debut at the Gold Coast.

Co-trainers Toby and Trent Edmonds know all about winning the $2 million Classic, having taken it with filly Houtzen in 2017.

The Drinks Cart ($1.70) showed they had the ammunition for another Classic triumph when he sat behind the pace to the turn before being eased down to beat Kavak ($2.90) by 1-1/4 lengths over 900m.

Trent Edmonds said The Drinks Cart had done everything required in his barrier trial win and then at his first start Wednesday.

“There was plenty to like as he has run time and had plenty in hand beating a horse who won his first start very well at Eagle Farm,” Edmonds said.

“We were tempted to run him on Saturday at Doomben for bigger prize money but when he got a good barrier here we decided to run,” Edmonds said.

“The Drinks Cart earned $19,800 today but that won’t be enough for the Millions. But we have plenty of options in the next month to qualify.”

The Drinks Cart is by the 2014 Magic Millions Classic winner Unencumbered out of a three times stakes placed mare Snipzu.

However, The Drinks Cart went through the Magic Millions National Sales ring for just $2000 when he failed to attract any attention.
