Dunn out to add to city tally at Sandown

Apprentice Dylan Dunn has ridden at least a winning double at Victoria’s past two Saturday metropolitan meetings and a good book of Sandown rides gives him a chance to continue his run.

With the top five in the Melbourne jockeys’ premiership competing in Sydney on Saturday, it creates opportunities for riders like Dunn.

Among his Sandown rides are last-start Bendigo Guineas winner Silent Sedition and Lahqa who are early favourites while Group-winning filly Catch A Fire and French import Gabella are also at single-figure odds.

Two weeks ago at Caulfield, 21-year-old Dunn rode his first stakes winner when Leebaz took out the Group Three Easter Cup.

It formed part of a winning double after Dunn had won aboard stakes-winning sprinter Miss Promiscuity.

Then last Saturday at the Mornington Cup meeting, Dunn rode three winners with one of them being a dead-heat for first.

“The past two Saturdays have been super,” Dunn said.

“I’m just trying to keep my body healthy and my mindset right and try to give myself a new task each week to try to aim to. So far it seems to be all paying off.

“And if I keep getting these types of books of rides then I don’t see why I can’t ride more doubles and trebles.”

Lahqa is at $2.70 for Saturday’s Ladbrokes.com.au Handicap (1500m) after her second to Tarquin in the Mornington Guineas last Saturday when Regan Bayliss was aboard.

The Andrew Noblet-trained Silent Sedition has won her two starts this campaign and Dunn jumps aboard for the first time to utilise his 2kg claim in the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap (1600m) where the filly has 60kg.

The apprentice considers Catch A Fire among his top rides on the day in the 1300m handicap for three-year-olds.

The Listed Galilee Series Final (2400m) for three-year-olds is the feature race at Sandown and Dunn is aboard the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained Bullish Stock who placed over the distance at Sandown two starts ago before disappointing last start at Caulfield.
