We have assessed the eight race card at Doomben, being run on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 and found some great value in our free tips.
The track is currently rated a soft 5, but with no rain forecast we think there should be an upgrade by the first race at 1:08pmAEST. With the rail out 10.5m we think there’ll be a fairly heavy leaders bias.
Best bet: Race 2She’s Our Rippa $3.60 at Bet365She’s Our Rippa looks ready to breakthrough here after placing twice from 7 starts. She maps to get an soft lead from barrier 6 and with the rail position in her favour, we expect her to kick clear and get her maiden win. The drop back to 1050m from the 1100m last start will suit her down to the ground as she was just found out late by a smart one in her last start. Tony Gollan and Baylee Nothdurft are striking at 19% when combining over the past 12 months and they can add to their record together here.
Next best bet- Race 1Liza With A Zee $1.70 at Bet365Leading Queensland trainer can make it a winning double on the card when he saddles up hot favourite Liza With A Zee in the opener. The 2yo filly by Zoustar has had just the one run back in December when she finished down the track by star filly Gotta Kiss. She won a trial in soft fashion 3 weeks ago and will have the guidance of senior jockey Jim Byrne. From gate 5 we think it will be a case of jump-lead-win.
Value bet: Race 8The Black Tide $8.50 at Bet365Steven O’Dea’s, The Black Tide, shapes as a great each-way bet in the last race of the day at $11. Coming off a great last start effort at the Sunshine Coast when placed behind Alpendurada on a Soft 7, we expect her to box seat from the inside alley and be strong late. Back on to a dry track will suit her down to the ground and she should be ready to fire fourth up this preparation. Boris Thornton has partnered this horse in both of career wins and we think he can make it a third. There doesn’t look to be a great deal of speed in the race so she should be in the perfect spot to hit the line hard.
