Doomben 10,000 awaits as Music Magnate dominates Victory Stakes
BJORN Baker-trained Music Magnate has made a successful return to the track on Saturday, effortlessly torching its rivals at Eagle Farm to take out the Victory Stakes.
In an unusually-weak group two race, the 2016 Doomben 10,000 winner sprinted to the head of affairs early in the piece and was never headed, justifying the $2.20 price at WilliamHill.com.au.

Six-year-old gelding Hopfgarden battled on well to claim second and return $2.30 at Sportsbet.com.au, while Miss Cover Girl produced a blackbook-type performance in its first run after a six month layoff to claim third.

The big disappointment of the race was the performance of Winterbottom Stakes winner Takedown.
After a magnificent period of success last preparation, the Gary Moore-trained gelding struggled to contend in the soft conditions and wilted to finish fourth.
Don’t give up on Takedown. Never handled that track one bit from word go.

Music Magnate’s focus now shifts to defending its Doomben 10,000 after the dominant win.
There was conjecture as to whether Bjorn Baker would take the horse back to the Brisbane Winter Carnival, but the trainer took to Twitter to confirm the news directly after the race.

Music Magnate remains on the second line of betting at Ladbrokes.com.au at the $6 quote despite recording the strong win.
