Divine Centuri claims Mick Dittman Plate

The decision to scrap a trip to Sydney for Divine Centuri turned out for the best with the filly’s win in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate at the Sunshine Coast.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick had wanted to take Divine Centuri to Sydney for the PJ Bell Stakes but decided to stay home when the filly drew a wide barrier.

Kendrick put Divine Centuri in a 1050m race at Doomben two weeks ago where she was an unlucky third.

“It was then we decided to chase the Dittman Plate and then the Gold Coast Guineas in a fortnight,” Kendrick said.

Divine Centuri ($5) showed plenty of heart to beat Sold For Song ($6) and Big Tree ($4.60) after having the run of the race on Saturday.

“We had a lot of trouble with her early as she had some injury problems. But when she came back and won impressively first-up to Doomben last month we knew we had something,” Kendrick said.

“It has been a bit of tough start to the winter for us but that win gives us a massive boost.”
