Divine Centuri back in business for winter

Divine Centuri’s winter carnival is back on track after her easy win at Doomben.

Plans for Divine Centuri, who has now won four of her six starts, included a start in the Gold Coast Guineas she but was scratched when she drew the outside barrier.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick then decided to alter the filly’s campaign and sent her into the Green Options Racing Handicap on Saturday.

Starting at $3.90, Divine Centuri raced on the pace before beating Wicked Intent ($16) by a length.

Kendrick said Divine Centuri would now contest the Queensland Stakes for three year olds at Doomben on May 28.

“We had planned to run her next week but that is too soon,” Kendrick said.

Kendrick believes Divine Centuri is up to some of the Group fillies and mares races later in the winter.

Trainer Chris Munce was thrilled with Wicked Intent who was ridden off the pace and finished strongly.

“He is giving the other horses weight all the time but that was near his best,” Munce said.
