Race 1 – Benchmark 72 (1650m)

Bidirectional has been racing over a much greater distance than it has been recently but we cannot look past its current form. Whether or not it truly handles the drop in trip remains to be seen, but it has the runs on the board.

Race 1 tip: Bidirectional to win at Sportsbet

Race 2 – Maiden (1000m)

Classic Western won’t have to contend with a wide draw on Wednesday which will be a big plus. The horse has enough early speed to lead from gate one and finally break the maiden tag.

Race 2 tip: Classic Western to win at Neds

Race 3 – Maiden (1350m)

French Dandy gets an inside draw and will enjoy the lack of speed in this race. The horse has looked decent across its only three career runs and we believe it has the capability to breakthrough here.

Race 3 tip: French Dandy to win at Neds

Race 4 – Benchmark 62 (1350m)

Tycoon’s Daughter is undefeated at the track and we think it can make it a hat-trick of wins at Devonport. The horse has won at this rating before and we see no reason to oppose it here.

Race 4 tip: Tycoon’s Daughter to win at Sportsbet

Race 5 – Benchmark 62 (1000m)

Steel Dan has been great at the track and rating over its last two runs. The son of Danzero won two starts back before placing second on Boxing Day, and while it gets a sight rise in weights it is good enough to overcome.

Race 5 tip: Steel Dan to win at William Hill

Race 6 – Class 1 Plate (1650m)

Little Pumba started as a favourite last time out and finally delivered on the promise it had shown over the course of its six-start career. We think it has the capability to go straight on from that and win directly out of the maiden grade.

Race 6 tip: Little Pumba to win at Crownbet

Race 7 – Class 1 Handicap (1150m)

Dubbo will look to lead and we think it can find the front and win. The daughter of Bianconi broke the maiden well last time out at this track and it has the potential to progress through the grades quickly.

Race 7 tip: Dubbo to win at Crownbet

Race 8 – Class 3 Handicap (1150m)

The Captain is at the bottom of the weights here and in the form of its life. In its last four races the horse has won three times and placed second once, and from barrier one we expect it to spear to the front and never get headed.

Race 8 tip: The Captain to win at Crownbet

Race 9 – Devonport Cup (1880m)

In a wide open affair putting a place bet on Our Shanakee looks to be a great option. There’s a decent price around the horse that has been running in weaker company, but delivering results nonetheless. It looks the best bet in a tricky feature event.

Race 9 tip: Our Shanakee to place ($3 at Sportsbet)

Race 10 – Class 1 Handicap (1208m)

Moorcroft should find the front easily here and control the race from the head of affairs. A win would complete a racing hat-trick for the son of Foxwedge and in a race with no speed we think it can dictate its own terms.

Race 10 tip: Moorcroft to win at Sportsbet
