David Salmon announced as the new head of Radio TAB

THE new general manager of Radio TAB, David Salmon, says he is looking forward to playing a key part in Australia’s racing industry.

Salmon has been appointed to replace Steve Cairns who died suddenly late last year.

He will take up his new post on March 14 at the Brisbane-based radio station which services Queensland, the Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania.

Salmon has an extensive background in the media working on NSW Central Coast radio station 2GO before joining the Seven Network.

He was most recently Seven’s Brisbane deputy director of news.

“I have loved my 20 years with Seven but I felt it was time for something new,” Salmon said.

“I have always enjoyed radio and this is a golden chance to get into the front line of racing.

“I have been a punter and owner and now I can be involved in the sport at another level.

“It is an exciting time for me and hopefully I can make a difference to the racing industry in a large part of Australia.”
