He’s Our Rokkii vs. Star Exhibit betting market

He’s Our Rokkii is the current favourite in the head-to-head betting, but there is tote support coming for Star Exhibit.

The Darren Weir-trained runner is currently at $6 to win the race outright, but punters will be enjoying the $2.55 to beat He’s Our Rokkii, which is fresh up and drifting in the fixed odds win market.

He’s Our Rokkii is a professional type which has won seven of its 19 race day starts.

The son of Roc De Cambes had always shown a good level of talent in the early stages of its career, but it wasn’t until it won the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes that it turned the corner.

It won by a half-length over Odyssey Moon and that kicked off a string of five straight victories. It ended the 2016 season with a win in the Frank Packer Plate and picked up right where it left off in the following spring.

Despite running at odds of $7 when resuming at Caulfield, He’s Our Rokkii was too good for them and only two starts later it would take out its biggest career achievement.

The five-year-old won the Group 1 Toorak Handicap at Caulfield and although it hasn’t won since, you can’t take that class away.

Its runs since have been mixed which included a 10th in the Cantala Stakes at Flemington, but it did finish off well enough behind It’s Somewhat in the Ajax Stakes at Rosehill.

It resumed this season with a fourth placing behind Hartnell in the Group 2 P.B. Lawrence Stakes and that indicated that it was back to its best. Punters will take good confidence coming into this based on that.

Star Exhibit form guide

Star Exhibit came from Perth to join the Darren Weir stable with a great winning record and it has performed well for Weir in three starts to date.

The six-year-old won eight from 17 in Perth which culminated with a Group 2 Perth Cup win and it had immediate success when travelling to Melbourne.

It won the Listed Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield by just under a length over Charmed Harmony and Top Me Up. This race is much harder than that, but the early signs were good from the visitor.

A placing in the Group 1 Doomben Cup would follow and it clearly runs better when up in distance, so the 1600m on this occasion should suit nicely.

There wasn’t much to like about its run in the P.B. Lawrence Stakes, but it needed the run and punters should overlook its finishing position. It will come out of that run with plenty of fitness and rising up from 1400m is ideal.

There’s still an amount of untapped ability with Star Exhibit and it could be to follow over the Cups distances this spring.

He’s Our Rokkii vs. Star Exhibit betting tip

The P.B. Lawrence Stakes appears to be the best form guide for the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, so we suggest taking He’s Our Rokkii at the short odds.

$1.56 at Sportsbet.com.au might be on the short side, but its fourth placing last start was a great betting guide for this and we think it will take Star Exhibit a few more runs for it to show its best.

He’s Our Rokkii could be a good multi-bet builder on what should be a great day of racing at Moonee Valley.
