Darren Weir reaches triple century of wins

Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Darren Weir has racked up win No.300 for the season as he powers towards a record tally.

On Friday at Swan Hill, Thermal Current scored a decisive 1-1/4 length win in the feature race, the $100,000 Golden Topaz.

Weir has until the end of July to reach the Commonwealth record of 334 set by John Hawkes in 2002/03.
