Cummings training base at Hawkesbury

Cummings is the latest high profile name to be added to the list of Hawkesbury trainers.

James Cummings and his father and fellow Randwick trainer, Anthony, will both have a second base at the track north-west of Sydney.

Rosehill trainer Gerald Ryan won last season’s Hawkesbury premiership from his satellite stable while Richard Freedman has taken over Tony McEvoy’s yard to pre-train for his brother Michael.

Neither Cummings will have stables on course with their horses domiciled at the family property at nearby Princes Farm.

“The horses will be at Princes Farm and go to Hawkesbury and do their gallops there,” James Cummings said.

“It is very generous of the club to do that and we appreciate it.”

Hawkesbury Race Club chief executive Greg Rudolph said the upcoming improvements at the course would make it an even more attractive option for city trainers.

“With our Polytrack construction about to begin, the training facilities will be significantly enhanced and will allow greater flexibility in training programs by easing the pressure on our grass track,” Rudolph said.

“We will continue to welcome the quality of trainers of this ilk, who are seeing the club and its improving facilities as an attractive alternative to a city base.”
