Cranbourne night racing form and free tips, Friday May 26

Cranbourne Night

NIGHT racing is back for another week at Cranbourne and we have form and free tips for every race.

The night racing circuit continues to be well-received by punters that love a bet on Friday evening and we have sorted through the form to find our best tips for every race.

The quality card kicks off with the O’Brien Real Estate 2YO Maiden at 6pm where a talented field of juveniles look to secure their first race day success.

Race 1 – O’Brien Real Estate 2YO Maiden (1300m)

Diaochan has improved with every run this preparation and it looks a great chance to break through here. The Lindsay Park-trained filly only warmed up late when finishing fifth on this track three starts back, but its two runs since have been encouraging and another run at this distance looks ideal. It only narrowly got beaten as the favourite last start and getting barrier two should allow it to find a great spot in running. Expect the two-year-old to be short in the betting again.

The challenge should come from No Doubt Ma’am which found the line well enough on debut. The Mick Price-trained filly finished sixth on a slow track at Pakenham, but it will be better for the hit out and Damien Oliver sticks with it in the saddle. It’s a nicely bred type by Not A Single Doubt and it should be paying solid each way odds again.

Race 1 tip: Diaochan to win at Bet365.com

Race 2 – Highview Accounting Services Maiden (1400m)

Antonia has been close in recent starts and a win should come shortly. The Robbie Laing-trained mare is having just its fifth race day start, but it showed good signs when running second on this track last start, despite running 3.5 lengths behind the winner. Its best run was probably on debut when running fourth behind subsequent group one winner Silent Sedition and four of its five starts to date have come on this track. Tricky barrier of 10, but consider as a winning chance.

Punters are wondering if Testa Life is going to cross the line first after placing in all six starts to date. The Nikki Burke-trained filly broke a string of four second placings when running third last start, but it produced a handy effort and the drop back in distance might help it switch on. We would prefer to see a rider change as Brian Higgins has had his chances with the filly, but it looks a winning chance once again regardless.

Race 2 tip: Antonia to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 3 – Tabcorp 2YO Maiden (2060m)

Savvy Dresser has placed at its last three starts and rising back up in distance looks ideal after contesting over the mile last start. The Price-trained three-year-old went down by a neck last time out and it placed at its only start over this distance. That form looks good for this and it will handle any moisture in the surface with two placings from two starts on a slow track. It has drawn well and should go close.

Subutai has a poor barrier of 10, but its form is too good to overlook. The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding looked the winner when just being beaten last start at Cranbourne and it should only get better with more ground. The son of Pour Moi is bred to handle the longer distances and any cut out of the track, so conditions should suit and it should be able to find a forward position in a race that looks suspect for speed on paper. It will break its maiden status soon and we think it could come here.

Race 3 tip: Subutai to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 4 – Patterson Cheney Isuzu R64 Handicap (1000m)

Kakanui will be forced to carry a big weight from a wide draw, but its form should be respected. The Brendan McCarthy-trained gelding won on this track by three lengths on debut before finishing second at Mornington. It ran in rating 70 grade last start where it scored by a nose and dropping back in grade is ideal for this. Ethan Brown does take its weight back down to 61.5kg and over this distance that won’t worry it as much, but punters should look for good each way odds.

Toosbuy had no friends in the market on debut, but it defied punters by winning at odds of $31. The Brett Scott-trained gelding scored by 1.25 lengths from La Bandita and that form should hold up in this grade. The three-year-old isn’t bred to be anything special, but it didn’t have things go its way on debut at Cranbourne after sitting wide and we’re expecting bookmakers to have it much shorter in the market this time around.

Race 5 – Procon Developments R64 Handicap (1300m)

Folk Tales is a quality gelding which has only had one missed placing from five starts. The Richard Laming-trained gelding resumed from a spell last start with a solid third placing and it won well last preparation when second up. It defeated a good field at Cranbourne by 4.75 lengths in December and the locally-trained four-year-old could return to the winners enclosure with some luck in running.

Barchetta did what it needed to on debut when winning by just under a length at skinny odds. The Ciaron Maher-trained filly was the $1.35 favourite against a moderate lot and it will find this harder, but it should improve nicely being by Street Cry and the money will likely come again. The three-year-old will likely try and find a position just off the speed with Luke Nolen in the saddle and it could pounce late.

Race 5 tip: Folk Tales to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 6 – Browns Sky Heights Stayers Final (2580m)

It’s A Silvertail is a five-time winner from 19 starts and it comes into this having won easily on this track. The Darren Weir-trained import qualified with the final with a 1.5-length victory on a slow track and despite a big weight of 60kg for this, a repeat could be on the cards. John Allen is a good jockey to have in the saddle over the staying distances and the Weir/Allen combination could strike again.

Benall has won back-to-back races coming into this and Craig Newitt sticks with it. The five-year-old hasn’t yet faced the quality of this field, but it scored a tough win on this track last start and that should be respected. It handles all track conditions and it could pull off its third consecutive upset at long odds.

Race 6 tip: It’s A Silvertail to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 7 – Mile Series R78 Final (1600m)

Kiwia is an unbeaten gelding for Darren Weir and punters will likely back it in. The three-year-old won by 3.75 lengths on debut before backing that up with a narrow win at Ballarat last time out. It goes from rating 64 to rating 78 for this which is a big concern, but Weir won’t be lining it up for fun and dropping in weight to 55kg with Mick Dee in the saddle is a big positive.

Khutulun hasn’t won for awhile now, but it could add some value for each way punters. The Luke Oliver-trained six-year-old produced a solid finish last time out to qualify for this race and the rise in distance where it has won two from eight starts. The Caulfield-based mare has been around the mark throughout this campaign and with no standouts in this field, it could capitalise.

Race 7 tip: Khutulun to place at Bet365.com

Race 8 – Cranbourne Hyundai R70 (1300m)

Tizso Wicked has found a resurgence in form, winning consecutive races coming into this. The Burke-trained mare loves Cranbourne with three wins and three placings from nine starts, and it scored both recent wins on this track. Any easing of the surface will play right into its hands and it hasn’t been punished too heavily in the weights for its last start success. Looks a handy each way chance.

Diapason scored a good win on debut over a subsequent winner and there wasn’t much wrong with its showing at Sandown last start. The Waller-trained mare was blocked in the straight and never got a clear run at them last start, so punters should look towards its run on debut. The four-year-old by Shocking will appreciate this distance and running from the inside draw will give it a saloon trip.

Race 8 tip: Diapason to win at CrownBet.com.au
