Cranbourne Turf Club is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Friday as the night racing season draws closer to an end. The Cranbourne track is rated a Soft 5, and there is more rain predicted ahead of the meeting. The rail has been set in the true position from the 1600m to 1000m and then out 3m for the remainder. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers for the meeting, which gets underway at 5:30pm AEST.
Best Bet: Fac
We were with the Greg Eurell-trained Fac on the Pakenham synthetic track on April 29, but was noticeably over-racing throughout the event in his second career start. He comes back to the turf for his third start and is bred to handle the going if the rain does arrive. He was a noticeable drifter prior to the jump last start, so if he attracts a strong starting price profile, this could be a genuine fill up job. From barrier one, we expect Jamie Mott to settle him just off the leaders heels and if afforded a touch of luck at the top of the straight they should be savaging the line and proving too good for this maiden field.
Race 3 – Fac (#4)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369321_03]
Next Best: Sig Positano
The Patrick Payne-trained Sig Positano strung together a hat-trick of wins before stepping up into Saturday grade company and was far from disgraced when finishing fourth, beaten under a length. The Canford Cliffs gelding will get back from the wide barrier, and gets the services of Michael Walker on board for the first time in his career. His three wins this campaign have come on rain affected going, and with a near bombproof record on wet going, he looks the one to be with in the penultimate leg of the Cranbourne quaddie.
Race 7 – Sig Positano (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369321_07]
Best Value: Made By Khan
The Matt Laurie-trained Made By Khan was well beaten over the 1600m here on April 23, but we are willing to forgive that last start effort. His win prior at Mornington was utterly dominant, and connections were quick to make it clear that the son of Caulfield Cup winning Mongolian Khan would only get better over longer distances. He steps up to the 2025m here at Cranbourne and if he brings his best on Friday night, he looks to be too good for this BM64 field. He is paying around the $6 quote with the top racing bookmakers.
Race 5 – Made By Khan (#4)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369321_05]
