Craig Williams appeals latest suspension

Jockey Craig Williams has lodged an appeal against his latest suspension incurred during the Melbourne Cup carnival at Flemington.

Thursday’s ban was Williams’ second for the week after he was outed for 11 meetings on Tuesday.

Williams appealed that ban and had it reduced to eight meetings by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board last Wednesday.

But Racing Victoria stewards suspended Williams for a further eight meetings on a careless riding charge on Oaks day.

Williams is appealing both the decision of the stewards and the penalty with the hearing before the RAD Board set for 4pm on Tuesday.

Currently sidelined courtesy of his Melbourne Cup suspension, Williams’ latest ban begins after the Seymour meeting on Thursday and he can return for the Sandown meeting on November 22.
