Tim Clark will ride Brisbane sprinter Zoustyle when he runs in the Maurice McCarten Stakes.

In-form Sydney jockey Tim Clark will be the new rider for Brisbane sprinter Zoustyle when he resumes at Rosehill.

Zoustyle will run in Saturday’s Group Three Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m), his first start since running midfield at Caulfield in October.

The gelding has won six of his Brisbane starts but has failed to win in three runs in Sydney and Melbourne.

Zoustyle was taken by road to Sydney on Thursday night and had a hit-out on Saturday.

Trainer Tony Gollan said Zoustyle’s campaign had gone to plan so far with the gelding a dominant winner of a Doomben barrier trial on February 25.

“Things didn’t go our way last time we went south so this time hopefully it will go smoothly,” he said.

“This time we are going to work Zoustyle through the grades rather than starting at the top straight away.

“The McCarten is an ideal place to start and then we can worry about the TJ Smiths, etc.”

Gollan believes Clark is ideal for Zoustyle who can want to over-race.

“Tim is very experienced and he is a noted rider of horses who get up on the pace,” Gollan said.

A Sydney trip for three-year-old Ruuca is in doubt after he ran fourth at $1.45 at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Trained by Toby and Trent Edmonds, Ruuca had been heading to the Darby Munro Stakes at Rosehill on March 21 but those plans are in abeyance until connections see how he progresses.

A post-race veterinary examination showed the colt to have a laceration on the outside of his off stifle and had struck himself on the inside of the off hind pastern.
