Clark Keen On Chances Of Tulloch Lodge Duo

Tulloch Lodge is renowned for producing tough, on-pace gallopers who are hard to get past and Tim Clark will be aboard two such horses at Randwick.

Clark will ride filly Vangelic for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott in the Group Two Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) and stablemate Taikomochi in the Group Three Kingston Town Stakes (2000m).

Taikomochi has been racing in great heart during the winter, highlighted by a Randwick win in his typically dogged style two starts ago.

He heads to Saturday’s race off a fourth in the Premier’s Cup behind exciting stayer Mugatoo and Clark says Taikomochi will again be hard to run down.

“He’s a grand old campaigner who has been a wonderful money-spinner for connections and he continues to race well,” Clark said.

“He will do his thing again on Saturday and it will take a good one to get past him, if they do. He will fight all the way to the line.”

Clark was aboard Vangelic when she made the running over 1200m in the Furious Stakes before being overhauled late for a game fourth to Dame Giselle.

He expects her to take improvement from that run and says the rise in distance will be more to her liking.

“I thought she ran well first up. She led up on a day where leading wasn’t the easiest position,” Clark said.

“She ran fourth and two of the three fillies who beat her home had a run under their belt.

“The 1400 will suit her. There’s not a lot of her but she’s drawn well, she has come on from the run and she’s very honest.”
