Chris Anderson on the money at Doomben

Colour of Money wins the 2015 Bong Bong Cup

On the day James Cummings takes over the biggest stable in Australia one of his first feature race winners will make his Brisbane debut.

Cummings begins the next stage of his career as the new head trainer for the massive Godolphin operation at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

He takes over from Darren Beadman who has been interim trainer since early May after the resignation of John O’Shea.

Colour of Money, who is now trained at Eagle Farm by Chris Anderson, runs in a benchmark race over 2040m at Doomben and has the distinction of being the only Bong Bong Cup winner to race in Brisbane.

Cummings had only just taken over as a trainer in his own right after the death of his grandfather Bart Cummings when Colour Of Money won the 2015 Bong Bong Cup.

The Cup is run at one of Australia’s biggest and most famous picnic meetings in the NSW Southern Highlands.

The track is about seven kilometres from legendary owner-breeder Dato Tan Chin Nam’s Think Big Stud where Colour Of Money was bred.

By the stud’s sire Pendragon, Colour of Money has had a varied career which includes a midfield performance in the 2015 VRC St Leger.

He has had one Queensland start finishing fourth in a restricted class race at Ipswich over 1666m.

Anderson has had several winners for the Think Big Stud syndicate including Subsolar and Datuk Zadragon.

He is excited to be training for such a well known operation and have his horses race in colours made famous by Saintly, So You Think and Viewed.

“I have been training for only about five years and to get horses for them is obviously a great boost, ” Anderson said.

Anderson originally stabled horses for Bart Cummings during the Brisbane winter and got to know Duncan Ramage who runs the Australian business for Dato Tan.

“Colour of Money made up a lot of ground at his first start for me at Ipswich and he should be suited getting out to 2040 metres,” Anderson said.
