Chris Anderson hoping track conditions improve for talented pair

EAGLE Farm-based trainer Chris Anderson has entered two promising types at Ipswich and Gold Coast this Saturday, but is hoping for the Sunshine State weather to kick into full gear.

Anderson could line up Moonlight Dancer in the opening race of the premier Ipswich card and also talented three-year-old See Miracles which is entered in the QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate.

Having already withdrawn Elegant Composure due to the impending heavy track conditions, Anderson was in a holding pattern about running is stable pairing, but if they do make it to the track, expect positive results.

Moonlight Dancer is a six-win mare which is coming off a narrow win at the Sunshine Coast and despite having two wins and two placings on a slow surface, Anderson believes a heavy track wouldn’t be ideal for the daughter of Classic de Lago.

“I suppose I’d question a heavy track for her,” Anderson told horsebetting.com.au. “If it was a soft 6 or 7, but a heavy 9 or 10 is another kettle of fish.”

Stablemate See Miracles has a few more options this weekend after being nominated for Ipswich, Gold Coast and Kilcoy, but is another runner in doubt of starting due to the conditions.

“The Gold Coast was her option, pretty keen on her there, but it looks like it will be a heavy 10,” Anderson said. “We probably wouldn’t want to send her around on a heavy 10, so we might leave her at home.

“We did nominate her for Kilcoy, which was an afterthought, trying to dodge the weather.

“We don’t really want to race at Kilcoy, but it’s a QTIS race and it’s worth more money than a midweek metropolitan as far as prizemoney is concerned, so there’s a few options.”

See Miracles has won two trials in preparation for its next run and Anderson is confident it can break maiden grades soon.

“She’s trialled well. She should have broken through by now, but she’s come up against some good opposition,” Anderson said.

“She just hasn’t had things go her way.”

Elegant Composure is a definite non-starter on Saturday, but Anderson could be targetting the $175,000 HMR Projects Glasshouse Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on July 1.

“She’s not a heavy tracker so we’ll keep her at home and look for something else,” Anderson explained. “She needs a firmer surface and we’re going to look at the long term weather forecast and make a decision from there.

“There’s the option to go to the Glasshouse over 1400m in a fortnight, that might be a good option for her.”
