Dwayne Dunn has ridden Godolphon mare Chatuchak (blue) to win at Caulfield.

Promising signs on the training track have translated to a winning performance on race day for Godolphin mare Chatuchak at Caulfield.

The James Cummings-trained Chatuchak brought up a winning double at Saturday’s meeting for jockey Dwayne Dunn when she came from back in the field to take out the In Memory of Aila Hinton-Tooley Handicap (1100m).

Chatuchuk ($17), having her third start of her current preparation, defeated Nodoubtaboutit ($41) by a neck with a half-head to Mazurek ($19) third.

“Dwayne had confidence going into the race and he rode her like he had the confidence in her,” Cummings’ Melbourne-based assistant trainer Kate Grimwade said.

“She has really peaked in her training in the last few weeks so it was really nice to see her get a win on the board.

“She was looking a lot sharper in her trackwork.

“She’s such a gutsy little mare. She’s not overly big but she runs her heart out all the time.”

Dunn had earlier steered the Robbie Laing-trained Arrochar to victory in the Dale Foenander Handicap (1400m).
