Leg 1 – Fight Cancer Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m)

Keen Array put in a big fresh up performance behind Voodoo Lad and although it hasn’t won for some time, it has a fair amount of class. The Hayes/Dabernig-trained gelding has won and placed at Caulfield and looks well placed from barrier five at a light weight of 54.5kg. It opened at $4 and has drifted out slightly to $4.20.

Santa Ana Lane has come for support into $5 after opening at $5.50. The Freedman-trained gelding didn’t fire last start in the Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington, but it races well at Caulfield and running around a corner will help its chances. Expected to find a position midfield before launching late with Ben Melham at the light weight.

Include the Stephen McKee-trained Passing Shot at odds of $26. The five-year-old hasn’t put its best foot forward in two Australian runs, but it battled on fairly last start and there shouldn’t be as much pressure in this race. It’s a seven-time winner at this distance and it deserves one more chance.

Leg 1 quaddie tips: 4, 5, 6

Leg 2 – Bendigo Bank Foundation Cup Naturalism Stakes (2000m)

It’s about time Jameka returned to its best form and that could come here. The four-year-old finished third in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas over this distance last preparation and although that was in age group racing, it should be able to improve with more distance here. Drawing the inside barrier should ensure it gets a soft run and being an open field the bookmakers are offering a good win price of $5.50.

Tom Melbourne opened at $3.90, but has drifted out slightly to $4 following its second placing last start. The Freedman-trained gelding has won five from nine starts and is unbeaten in two second up starts. The son of Dylan Thomas has plenty of ability over the staying distances and it’s a dangerous proposition down in the weights.

Excess Knowledge is a stayer which will reward punters in some fashion this spring carnival. The Waterhouse/Bott-trained import finished only ninth last start in the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, but this is a much easier race and it has a good second up record. Bookmakers continue to underrated the seven-year-old, but stick with it throughout the spring.

Leg 2 quaddie tips: 3, 6, 13

Leg 3 – Sheen Group Handicap (1400m)

Former New Zealand runner He’s Our Rokki has now made it three consecutive wins in Australia and another could be on the cards here. The Hayes/Dabernig-trained gelding beat the talented Prince Of Brooklyn last start and the likes of Old North and Odyssey Moon prior to that. There’s no reason it can’t put in another strong showing and punters are getting a good price at $3.20.

Jungle Edge was well supported last start when it finished third behind He’s Our Rokki and it gets in here with another light weight. The Mick Bell-trained gelding has amassed a nice record without many people noticing and any sting out of the track will be much appreciated. It’s bred to handle the wet so if the predicted rain falls on Saturday, expect its price of $9 to drop.

Also include Akavaroun ($16) and Le Bonsir ($17) in calculations. Both are capable of causing an upset and shouldn’t be discounted.

Leg 3 quaddie tips: 1, 3, 6, 9

Leg 4 – Mortimer Petroleum Gold Nugget (1700m)

Profit Share has needed both runs back this campaign and it wasn’t far behind Jungle Edge at Sandown last start. The Darren Weir-trained gelding won back-to-back cup races at Warrnambool last year and if it can replicate that form, it should go close in this. Needs some luck, but the $8.50 is an attractive price.

Mr Wonderful must be included on form alone. The Peter Gelagotis-trained gelding has rattled off four consecutive wins and it looks ready to handle this grade. The five-year-old creates its own luck in front which makes it tough to run down and dropping in weight to 54kg should see it figure in the finish. Its opening price of $7.50 has dropped to $7 so there is early support.

Electric Fusion is another well-backed gelding which went close behind Refulgent last start. The son of Fastnet Rock has won on this track, but it is a touch inconsistent so punters will need to stay loyal with this runner. It would prefer a dry track, but it has placed four times on a slow surface. Chance at $6 after opening at $7.

Leg 4 tips: 9, 13, 14
