Race 1 – Maiden Handicap (1100m)

Spirit Of Aquada is third-up on Wednesday, where it has previously placed at in the past. The horse wasn’t great last time out on Boxing Day, but before that it only missed out by half a length at Pakenham. Spirit Of Aquada confronts much easier company on Wednesday and should break through at the seventh time of asking.

Race 1 tip: Spirit Of Aquada to win at Sportsbet

Race 2 – Benchmark 64 (1200m)

Tennessee Sky won well at Werribee on Christmas Eve to shake the maiden title and we believe it rates strongly to win in its benchmark debut. The Equiano filly should be super-fit coming into this one and will be the one to beat from a decent draw.

Race 2 tip: Tennessee Sky to win at Neds

Race 3 – Benchmark 64 (1600m)

Persian Empire is a highly rated horse which should win again on Wednesday. The horse only narrowly missed out on winning at its benchmark debut after going down to Tristano on New Years Day, but it had the race won until that galloper sprouted wings late. Rates very well here.

Race 3 tip: Persian Empire to win at Ladbrokes

Race 4 – Benchmark 70 (2000m)

Silent General will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing showing at Flemington on New Years Day. Prior to that the horse had won twice and placed second a further two times over its last four runs, so we are acutely aware how good this horse is at its peak. We are expecting a much better performance at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Race 4 tip: Silent General to win at Sportsbet

Race 5 – Benchmark 58 (1400m)

Last-start winner Deconi is looking to record its third victory this preparation. The horse won at this grading in that last-start win at Sandown, and while this is a very slight step-up in trip, Deconi looms as the winner here.

Race 5 tip: Deconi to win at Ladbrokes

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 (1440m)

The Great Artiste is gunning for a third-straight success on Wednesday. Not much was expected of the horse when it won at BM64 level on New Years Eve and we suspect punters will not be underestimating it again. The Atomic gelding will prove hard to beat.

Race 6 tip: The Great Artiste to win at Crownbet

Race 7 – Benchmark 70 (1200m)

Booradley will look to lead from barrier one and it has enough early speed to do so. From there the in-form galloper will benefit from having a weight advantage over some of the fiercer rivals and we think it has the ability to salute for the third time from seven attempts.

Race 7 tip: Booradley to win at Crownbet

Race 8 – Benchmark 70 (1600m)

Pop Queen steps up slightly in grading on Wednesday but it has been performing well at BM64 level. In its last four runs the horse has recorded two wins and a second placing, and while the barrier is an unfavourable one, we think it can overcome.

Race 8 tip: Pop Queen to win at Crownbet
