Trainer Matt Dunn rolled the dice and came up with a Magic Millions Cup place when Care To Think won at Doomben on Saturday.

Care To Think ($4.20) showed why Dunn has such a big wrap on him when he came home late to beat last year’s winner Most Important ($4.20) by 1 1/4 lengths with a short head to Trubia ($10) third in the $150,000 Buffer Quality (1350m).

Care to Think, who cost only $16,000 at Magic Millions June Sales, needed to win on Saturday to make the field for the $1million Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on January 13.

“He was paid up for the Magic Millions but we didn’t have enough prize money to get into the field, He had to get a wild card which means he is exempt from the ballot for the Cup,” Dunn said.

“I have always had a big opinion of him. He defied the bias to win at Doomben at his previous start and he did it again today.”

Care to Think rana fast 1.81.82 seconds for the win and Dunn is already looking at next year’s winter carnival with him.

Winning jockey Jeff Lloyd was also very impressed with the win because things didn’t go his way.

“I tried to push Trubia out of the way but that didn’t work and I had to try something else,” Lloyd said.

Most Important is also likely to press on to the Magic Millions Cup to finish his summer.
