Capacity field for Group 1 Cantala Stakes

Defending titleholder Best Of Days will carry the No.1 saddlecloth in the Group One Cantala Stakes at Flemington which has attracted a capacity field of 16 plus four emergencies.

The James Cummings-trained Best Of Days, who has not won since last year’s Cantala, has 57kg and has drawn barrier 14 for Saturday’s 1600m handicap while fellow topweight Land Of Plenty has the inside barrier.

Group One Toorak Handicap winner Fierce Impact has drawn out in 17 – he will come in three barriers if the emergencies do not gain starts – while Toorak runner-up Night’s Watch has drawn nine.

The Cummings-trained Cascadian has the outside draw.

The field features two northern hemisphere-trained visitors, with the David Menuisier-trained Chief Ironside set to race on a seven day back-up after his win in the Group Two Crystal Mile at The Valley while Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Suroor has Royal Meeting in the race.
