THE Sydney Friday night racing fixture returns as Canterbury hosts an eight race card to lead us into the weekend.

The Canterbury is card is complemented by night racing at Cranbourne, so there’s plenty of action for punters this Friday.

Let’s take a look at which horses we’re favouring.

Race 1 – Maiden Handicap (1200m)

Snowden runner Misteed only just missed out on debut at Canterbury on January 5 and we think it can breakthrough on Friday. The horse gets the ideal gate and after getting to experience what racing is all about will benefit greatly from the run.

Race 1 tip: Misteed to win at Sportsbet

Race 2 – Maiden Handicap (1100m)

Squaw Peak has placed in back-to-back events and looks well placed to break the maiden at the sixth time of asking. The horse gets a decent barrier and draws well in the weights compared to some of the more fancied rivals.

Race 2 tip: Squaw Peak to win at Neds

Race 3 – Benchmark 71 (1900m)

Chris Waller-trained Campaign is hunting a third-straight win and we believe it has the capabilities to get the job done. The horse has been stellar this preparation, breaking the maiden before registering a win at BM703 level. Jumping from barrier three will also be telling.

Race 3 tip: Campaign to win at Neds

Race 4 – Benchmark 73 (1250m)

Al Mah Haha resumed in fine fashion on January 5, winning its maiden race by over a length. The horse has placed second-up before in the past and will benefit from carrying just 56kg into the race.

Race 5 – Benchmark 75 (1100m)

All Carisma has finished second in three of its last four races and looks well placed to continue its good form. The More Than Ready gelding only just missed out on January 5 and from barrier four looks to be suited here.

Race 5 tip: All Carisma to win at Ladbrokes

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 (1100m)

Soothing needs to overcome barrier ten but all signs point to another good run from the in-form Godolphin galloper. The horse has won two of its last three races by a combined five lengths and the only thing we think holding it back from adding another win to its tally is the gate.

Race 6 tip: Soothing to win at Crownbet

Race 7 – Benchmark 75 (1550m)

A drop in class will be greatly beneficial for Richard Litt-gelding Pianissimo, which was by no means running poorly at BM80 level. The horse missed out by a neck on January 5, and while it jumps significantly in weights, it will have a class advantage.

Race 7 tip: Pianissimo to win at Crownbet

Race 8 – Benchmark 74 (1900m)

Lord Macau has been progressing with every run this preparation and looks to be peaking just in time for this race. The horse should be able to glide to the front from a wider barrier and win the race from the head of affairs.

Race 8 tip: Lord Macau to win at Crownbet
