Canterbury racing tips

Just the seven races head to Canterbury Park for New South Wales’ Wednesday meeting. The track is currently rated a Soft 6, the rail goes out +3m for the entire course, and the first race is set to jump at 1:25pm AEST. Let’s take a look at the best odds and value bets on offer at Australia’s leading online bookmakers.

Wednesday racing tips for Canterbury Park

Best BetRace 4 – Mr Mosaic Get the best odds

Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou saddle up last-start winner Mr Mosaic, who returns after a three-week letup. When first up at Warwick Farm, he donkey licked his opposition with an all-the-way win over 1000m. Fresh and up to 1100m on a softer track, we expect he will do a similar job in the fourth on Wednesday. He does rise in weight here, but we don’t believe that will slow him down given he should find a soft enough lead from barrier seven. Robbie Dolan stays aboard the Rubick entire, who reeks of stakes quality. He’ll bowl along in front and take some serious running down.

Next BestRace 7 – Kingsheir Get the best odds

Kingsheir lines up as favourite in the final event on the program after running well in his metropolitan debut 10 days ago when second behind Discharged. He had the best 800-400m sectional of the day for the races run over 1500m at Rosehill, and he stays at that distance here. He has never missed the places in four starts and has been in some solid form races. Nash Rawiller hops aboard for the first time and could be positive from the sticky draw in a race that lacks speed outside of Knowitall Jack. The four-year-old has stacks of ability and is only going to get better with age and distance. Given that he is in the Hawkes camp, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a bid towards the Golden Eagle in a month’s time with a dominant display here.

Best ValueRace 2 – Elizabeel Get the best odds

Elizabeel looks beautifully placed after breaking her maiden last start with a dominant win at Wyong. Prior to that she had some good form with placings behind Bellevue Star, Peltzer and Raison D’etre. In five starts she has only been out of the money once when on debut on a Heavy 8 track, so we are prepared to put a line through that. She’ll go forward from barrier nine with Robbie Dolan aboard and look to make it back-to-back wins. Three starts ago she finished only 2L off Peltzer, who is single figures for Saturday’s Golden Rose, so Elizabeel’s double-digit price here looks well and truly overs. Happy to be on her on an each-way basis in what is a tough three-year-old race.
