Canterbury quaddie form and free tips, Wednesday September 7

quaddie of the week

SPRING racing is heating up and although the pesky rain is still hanging around, there are some quality fields on display at Canterbury this Wednesday.

The quaddie is back on and punters have already backed a few high-profile thoroughbreds in the final four races on the card.

There is stakes racing form throughout the quaddie which should make for an exciting four legs and punters can get the best value at CrownBet.com.au.

Leg 1 – Pluck @ Vinery Maiden (1200m)

The Chris Waller-trained filly has yet to win from four starts, but has great form leading into this. The three-year-old by I Am Invincible finished second behind Skylight Glow three starts back before running second behind My Country in the Lancaster Stakes at Eagle Farm where it was desperately unlucky. The $3 on offer is a great price from bookmakers and it should be included in quaddie selections.

California Elite hasn’t been too far away in both career starts and it has plenty of scope. The Snowden-trained colt ran third behind Pound Sterling on debut before running a close second last time out at Gosford. This isn’t an easy maiden field, but bookmakers have it at an each way quote of $7.50 which could add some value.

Bright Lights Baby has finished second in both career starts and both came on a rain-affected track. The Waller-trained filly was game in behind Malaise last start and the slight drop back in distance should suit. Light weight helps its chances here.

Leg 1 tips: 1, 8, 10

Leg 2 – Theraces R77 Handicap (1100m)

Reincarnate is fresh up for John O’Shea having finished third behind the talented Sir Bacchus in consecutive starts at Rosehill. The four-year-old is a three-time winner which gets the inside draw and James McDonald in the saddle. It opened at $3.20 and has drifted slightly to $3.25, but it should be tough to beat in these conditions.

Burradoo must be considered based on its last start performance at Warwick Farm. The Mick Miladinovic-trained won by 4.3 lengths on a heavy track and all of its best form has come on rain-affected tracks. Bookmakers are respecting it at $5 so consider here.

Untamed Diamond is also a last start winner. The Richard Collett-trained mare won by 2.8 lengths at Canterbury and finally turned its solid New Zealand form into winning form in Australia. It has the ability to land on the pace and kick in the straight so it should be included in quaddie selections at $5.50.

Leg 2 tips: 1, 5, 6

Leg 3 – Ravnet’s Salkavite R72 Handicap (1550m)

Kent has been one of the best-supported runners of the day. The John O’Shea-trained gelding opened at $3.50 and it’s currently paying $3.25. Its last start effort was good in behind Divine Prophet in the Up And Coming Stakes and the form out of that race should stack up at midweek level. It won well prior to that and it looks a strong chance here.

Cellarman didn’t fire in the Run To The Rose behind Astern, but this is a much easier task. The Chris Waller-trained colt was an impressive winner prior to that at Eagle Farm and it’s bred to appreciate wet tracks being by Mossman. Bowman rides and it’s a big danger to the favourite at $4.20.

Leg 3 tips: 3, 7

Leg 4 – Tab R72 Handicap (1250m)

Painted Firetail goes best in a fresh up state and its last two runs came at stakes level. The John O’Shea-trained mare hasn’t won for awhile which is the big concern, but on its day it has more ability than this field and the $5 suggests a good run is in store.

Faith’s Encore looked the goods on debut when winning by 2.5 lengths. The filly by Denman was an impressive winner and betting suggests another win could be on the cards. Kerrin McEvoy sticks in the saddle and the $4 looks an attractive price.

Also include the likes of Maraam and Machinegun Jubs in quaddie selections. Both runners have the ability to win at this level and are both paying a handy price.

Leg 4 tips: 1, 3, 5, 11
