Bolwell to be transferred to Sydney

More than a month after she was seriously injured in a race fall, apprentice Melanie Bolwell is to be transferred to Sydney’s Liverpool Hospital from the Gold Coast.

Her father Jason said she would be transferred on Friday after waiting for a bed to become available.

She has been in the Gold Coast Hospital following the three-horse fall at Warialda on April 8 in which fellow rider Darren Jones lost his life and Leanne Henry suffered a broken collarbone.

Bolwell suffered bleeding around the brain and fractures in her neck and foot.
