Boban was forced into retirement after he suffered his second bleeding attack, incurring a ban from racing in Australia.

The six-year-old won 11 of his 37 starts and earned more than $1.8 million prize money.

Jockey Glyn Schofield had an affinity with Boban and rode him to all his Group One wins, the most recent in the Memsie Stakes last August.

Early in his career, Boban was trained in Victoria by Anthony Freedman to win two of eight starts but spent most of his career with Chris Waller in Sydney.
