Blake Shinn injured in Randwick fall

Jockey Blake Shinn has been injured after he fell from Percussion during barrier trials at Randwick.

Shinn complained of knee soreness after falling from the Peter Robl-trained colt during a trial on Tuesday morning.

He took no further part in the trials and his fitness will be monitored ahead of Wednesday’s meeting at Warwick Farm where he has a full book of rides.

The fall came after Shinn won an earlier heat on Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.

Capitalist’s trial win was his first public outing since his disappointing first-up performance in the San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill on August 13.

The three-year-old colt’s next start is likely to be the Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick on October 1 before he heads to Melbourne to target the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.
