Betting markets for Black Caviar’s foal Oscietra

Oscietra

THE first foal of unbeaten champion Black Caviar has been named Oscietra, a type of black caviar from a Russian sturgeon, but punters want to know if they can make some money off the filly.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel will attract worldwide attention, much like the progeny of Frankel has in Europe, and Sportsbet.com.au has already opened four betting markets.

Without a trainer having been named, it is hard to know what direction the high-profile filly will head, but betting on Oscietra will add to the excitement and we would all love to see Black Caviar’s legacy continue on the race track.

Oscietra betting markets and tips

Oscietra to win a race as a two-year-old:

Yes – $5 at Sportsbet

This option all depends on how strong the filly is and which trainer it goes to. There are certain trainers who would look after such a high-profile filly with caution and perhaps only start it as a three-year-old, but it could have its mothers speed which wouldn’t want to go to waste as a youngster.

$5 is a good price for this option and we could see it starting around the Moonee Valley circuit if it goes to a Victorian trainer. Otherwise expect an autumn run on a dead track which would be perfect footing for a quality type.

Oscietra to win the 2017 Blue Diamond Stakes:

Sportsbet is offering a massive $51 for Oscietra to win the Blue Diamond Stakes in February at Caulfield. The odds don’t necessarily represent the prediction of ability for Oscietra, but more so the likelihood of the filly running a Blue Diamond preparation.

The Blue Diamond can be a make-or-break race for the two-year-olds and we doubt the connections would want to put it under so much pressure so early in its debut season. Overlook this option for the meantime, but consider the $51 if Oscietra goes a noted two-year-old sprinting stable like that of Mick Price.

Oscietra’s unbeaten streak:

Win on debut – $3
2 wins – $8
3 wins – $18
4 wins – $41
5 wins or more – $81

We all love a winning streak, but trying to repeat what Black Caviar did is almost impossible. Winning on debut at $3 is a good option as connections will want to wait for the ideal time to strike.

It’s tough to recommend any other option, but seeing as the market closes on December 31, it gives punters the chance to follow its progress and assess its chances of scoring a winning streak.

5 wins or more would certainly be an incredible story and one we’re prepared to accept at $81 with Sportsbet.

Oscietra to win the 2017 Golden Slipper:

$67 is being offered by Sportsbet to win the biggest two-year-old race in the world. If Oscietra is trained by a Sydney-based trainer then consider this option, otherwise it’s unlikely to contest the $3.5 million Golden Slipper.
