Best odds and tips for the Wednesday quaddie at Warwick Farm

quaddie of the week

THE Quaddie pools are getting bigger as we head into spring racing and this Wednesday’s quaddie takes place at Warwick Farm.

Starting at 2.45pm with the Tab.com.au Benchmark Rating 66, the quaddie features some even races with the toughest being the final leg at 4.15pm. The 18-horse field will make it tough for quaddie punters to narrow down, but we’re keen on a few runners.

Leg 1 – Tab.com.au Benchmark R66 (1400m)

Chris Waller lines up last start winner Wutai Mountain which relished the conditions at Warwick Farm last start. The three-year-old filly has always promised plenty and it finally lived up to expectations last start. It has drawn awkwardly in barrier 10, but jockey Rory Hutchings is in good form and it could go back-to-back.

Fellow last start winner Ahri should be included out of the Hawkes stables. The Exceed And Excel filly turned around two average performances with an easy two-length win at Wyong last time out. That came in similar conditions as it will face for this and seeing Tommy Berry in the saddle is a positive.

Gone To Paris and Bannatyne should be included as savers.

Leg 1 tips: 1, 4, 5, 7

Leg 2 – Theraces Benchmark R70 (1600m)

Chris Waller holds a strong hand in the second leg with both Aurora Glow and Bold Beginning. Aurora Glow is a last start winner at Wyong which followed some consistent form in good races. The daughter of Northern Meteor loves the wet track conditions and it won its only start at the mile.

Stablemate Bold Beginning showed plenty of promise as a youngster, but it hasn’t been the same horse since. It has had five starts this campaign which included a last start second placing at Wyong which is why it’s included in quaddie selections here. Brenton Avdulla takes the ride which is a positive and it should go close.

Cinema Paradiso could offer some value at an each way price. The three-year-old is a two-time winner from nine starts and it wasn’t far away when well supported last start at Kembla Grange. The Bjorn Baker-trained runner won its start prior at Gosford and a similar effort will take it close. Nice chance.

Leg 2 tips: 2, 5, 7

Leg 3 – Pro-Ride Handicap (1600m)

Ready Already is an enigmatic type which won well last start, but punters have a tough time trusting it. The Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding has won two from 10 with no placings, but it won by three lengths last start so it should be included in quaddie selections. Punters would be wanting a decent price.

Prescience should be well supported in the market after finishing second in all four of its Australian starts. The Chris Waller-trained gelding ran at rating 95 grade at Newbury before coming to Australia, but it has been unable to win in three maiden attempts. It has been backed and beaten at odds on in its last two, but this looks a winnable race for it now.

Stablemate Hogmanay has a solid race record of seven starts for one win and three placings. The Lonhro three-year-old was a nice 1.5-length winner two starts back to break the maiden grades and it wasn’t far behind a smart type last start. It should figure in the finish.

Leg 3 tips: 3, 5, 9

Leg 4 – Tab Rewards R67 Handicap (1100m)

Lot Three Four One finished off well for second at Canterbury in rating 72 grade last time out. The Gary Portelli-trained mare hasn’t won for awhile now which is the concern, but it goes best on rain-affected ground and it showed a much better attitude last start. Will get a nice run from the draw.

Torchbearer gets the inside draw and Tommy Berry in the saddle. The three-year-old placed in its only start on this track and it pushed some handy horses close this campaign at Warwick Farm and Canterbury. It looks to have its foot in the till and punters might get a decent each way price.

In a wide open field, include the likes of Petrossian, Magic Jewel and Thorsborne which could all grab the money.

Leg 4 tips: 3, 4, 9, 10, 11
