Bergerson runner Just Fabulous ahead of Trentham
Awapuni trainer Roydon Bergerson his hoping three-year-old filly Just Fabulous can continue her impressive run of form at Trentham on Saturday when she competes in the Group 3 Williment Travel Group Desert Gold Stakes (1600m).
The daughter of O’Reilly has placed in all bar one of her six starts this campaign, including a placing in the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes (1550m) on her home track last month, while she was victorious in her last start over 1400m at Hastings on New Year’s Day.
“She’s going really well, she has come through her racing really well this season, I’m really happy with her,” Bergerson said.
“I think if she had got a little more room she would have run second (in the Eulogy). In saying that, the winner (Queen of Diamonds) was pretty impressive. She raced really well.
“I thought the other day she was quite impressive, she picked them up in a few strides and won pretty easily.”
Jockey Michael McNab will renew his partnership with the Manawatu galloper and Bergerson believes his filly has a strong chance if she can get the right run on Saturday.
“We have been happy with her work since (her last start), so hopefully she gets there 100 percent tomorrow,” Bergerson said.
“I think she will get the mile pretty well, she settled very well at Hawke’s Bay and really found the line strongly. I think if she gets a nice run, two or three back, she’ll be hitting the line strongly.”

Just Fabulous will likely have a quick freshen-up after Saturday’s contest before being readied for a tilt at Group One targets in autumn.
“We’ll just see how she gets through tomorrow, she’s been in a little while so she may need a little freshen-up,” Bergerson said.
“She’s nominated for the Oaks, but whether we get there or not is another thing, we will be looking to anyway.”
Bergerson will have another runner aiming for Group Three glory on Saturday, with Savabeel seven-year-old Hank Moody set to line-up in the NZ Campus of Innovation & sport Wellington Cup (3200m).
Hank Moody finished runner-up to Consensus in the Gr.3 Trentham Stakes (2100m) at Trentham last Saturday and Bergerson is hoping he can go one better in his first attempt at the two mile distance.
“It’s a bit of a dream, but he’s there and he’s in good form,” he said.
“It was a really good run in the Trentham Stakes, he drops a couple of kilos and he goes up in distance.
“You don’t know if they will get two miles until you try. There are a few proven two milers in the race, so it’s going to be interesting.”
Bergerson said his runner has pulled up well after last weekend’s race and he is hoping Hank Moody can put in a strong showing before he is sent out for a freshen-up ahead of Autumn racing.
“We just ticked him over during the week, he’s pretty fit. We just did a bit of quiet work yesterday and he seems pretty well, I’m just hoping he gets the two miles,” Bergerson said.
“He’ll probably just go in the paddock for a little bit, freshen him up a bit and see how he comes back in the autumn.”
