Bendigo racing preview & betting tips
Eight races are set down for judgement at Bendigo on Wednesday afternoon. The rail is out 3m for the entire circuit, while the track has come up a Good 4. The first at the ‘Nursery of Champions’ is set to jump at 1pm AEDT.
The Maher & Eustace stable will hope to go one better with their 3YO gelding after his runner-up performance at Swan Hill a fortnight ago. His first two career runs have shown that he will be right in the finish here. He got too far back at his last start and missed by half a length in a positive second-up display, but the small field here means he can take up a more prominent position in the run. From barrier five, all he’ll need is a bit of luck at the top of the straight and he should prove hard to hold out.

It was an arrogant win by the Matt Laurie’s 4YO gelding when he romped in by a distance at Benalla three weeks ago. He settled up on speed outside the leader and then burned the pacemaker as they entered the home straight, charging clear at the 250m mark to break his maiden in impressive style. He gets the in-form Jamie Kah aboard for the first time, and she should be able to get him across the field from barrier 12 to sit outside the leader again. If there aren’t any issues in getting across, Hillcrest Moses should prove hard to catch in the penultimate race on the card.

After winning his last two starts, it’s hard to ignore the price on offer for Nigel Blackiston’s 5YO gelding. Neil Farley has been on board for his last three starts and has yet to finish outside of the quinella, so they’ll look to build on that impressive record here. From barrier seven, they map to get an economical run in transit from midfield and will provide a big sight at odds.
