Benalla race betting preview – March 23
Racing in Victoria gets underway in Victoria for another week, with an eight race card at Benalla on Tuesday afternoon. The track is currently a Soft 6 after plenty of rain on Sunday and with 25mm of rain expected on both Monday and Tuesday we will most likely be starting in the Heavy range come race one. The rail is in the true position for this meeting, with the meeting getting underway at 1:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet: Arctic Ice
We will be looking to make an immediate impact on Tuesday afternoon, with the Ellerton and Zahra-trainer Arctic Ice in the opening event. Having drawn the rails, the Brazen Beau filly should not be too far from the speed throughout the running and all she will need is a touch of luck at the top of the straight. Having chased home the likes of Poland, Tagaloa and Bella Nipotina in her three spaced out career runs and not been disgraced in any suggests she will be right in this.

Next Best: Yatton
Going back three starts in this Savabeel filies career, Yatton was just over 1.5 lengths off the winner in the Oaks trial Pensato at Flemington back in the spring. The Mike Maroney-trained Yatton finished midfield in the Group 1 VRC Oaks when we last saw her race, and should appreciate stepping back to midweek racing over the 1406m at Benalla on Tuesday. Expect Yatton to settle midfield in the running, and with a sharp enough turn of foot she should be too good for this lot if she can handle the rain affected track.

Best Value: Miss Madec
Having won at her second career start on a Soft 7 over the 1406m here at Benalla, we are hoping for a repeat here second up from a spell but this time over 1606m for Miss Madec. If it is a day where you can make up ground from the rear of the field, then it should suit this Kermadec filly perfectly. In the field of 11 we expect Miss Madec to be needing to make up a few lengths in the home straight, but she has shown a sharp turn of foot in the past to suggest she is a winning hope here at a nice each-way price.
