Benalla Gold Cup Day quaddie tips for Friday, September 29

Benalla Gold Cup quaddie

WHILE most of Victoria celebrates the day off prior to the AFL Grand Final, the HorseBetting.com.au will be trackside for Friday’s Benalla Gold Cup meeting in the picturesque rural setting.

The country cup season is beginning to ramp up in Victoria and the Benalla feature is one of the state’s premiere events. A number of high profile horses will be competing for not only the Gold Cup crown, but other races on the day, which will make for a fascinating day of racing.

Race seven on the card is a benchmark 70 event over the 2046m trip, which kicks off the quaddie at 3.25 pm.

Race 7 – BM70 (2046m)

Birds Of Tokyo is a front-runner that has genuine ability to win from the head of affairs. In a race that has very little speed in it the mare should be able to roll forward with relative ease and will give the field something to catch.

Archie Alexander’s runner Buena Veloz is looking to back up a handy last-start win at Kilmore. The runs have been spaced out his preparation to keep the four-year-old fresh and we are anticipating another strong run on Friday.

Danouli is racing in hot form given it has won two of its last three races. Racing recently almost exclusively at Morphettville the stays around the same benchmark but drops back to a country grade rather than a metro race. Winning this race does not seem beyond its capabilities.

Race 8 – Benalla Gold Cup (2046m)

Anaheim brings great form into the feature at Benalla and will be hard to hold out. Having won and placed at Benalla before, the horse also comes into the race third-up, where it has previously placed before. The horse gets in good at the weights and looms as the runner to beat.

The classy Moonovermanhattan at its best will be competing for the cup. Following a pair of defeats at the hands of Rhythm To Spare, the Weir runner returns after a 41-day let up. From gate six it will have plenty of time to balance up and we think it will be right in the finish.

Have Plenty is aiming for three wins in a row. Having recorded back-to-back wins at Morphettville, the horse makes its way over to Victoria in winning form. Despite never winning at the distance, it has placed four times across six attempts and the recent form is hard to fault.

Race 9 – BM78 (1206m)

Bel Burgess comes into this race fresh, and the horse has previously won first-up in the past. Prior to being turned out the gelding had recorded four straight wins and finished just one and a half lengths off making it a quintet of wins as a $21 pop. The horse resumes after a trial just over a fortnight ago and will be one of the main market elects.

Seven-year-old Kalashani Lad upset the field at a big price two weeks ago in Geelong and is certain to be running around at much slimmer odds on Friday. The horse will have a fitness advantage over a number of these horses and is more than capable of taking this race out.

Wall Street Wolf will need to overcome barrier 13, but after recording back-to-back wins at Geelong and Pakenham the horse has the tools to win under duress. Coming in after a slight let-up, the horse prior to that destroyed the field at Geelong as a short-priced favourite and has to be considered here.

Race 10 – BM64 (1206m)

Galea is looking to make it three wins from four starts. A disappointing race at Wangaratta aside, the horse is in red-hot form and remains at a distance where it has won twice and placed once before across six attempts.

Concentrate has been racing well without breaking through for a win. Placing in its last three starts, the horse comes to Victoria after a long stint in Tasmania. The six-year-old has won twice at the distance before and gets the reasonably attractive gate three to bounce from.

Max Master has a win, a fourth and a third from its last three starts and remains at a distance where it has had great success. Getting a weight relief on its main rivals will be greatly beneficial and from barrier six it will have no issues finding a prominent position. It looks like the horse to beat to round out the day.
