Barrier one to help Mishani Hustler

Mishani Hustler will run in the 3YO sprint over 1050m at Doomben from barrier one rather than 1350m.

A good barrier draw has tempted trainer Ben Currie to bring stakes placed gelding Mishani Hustler back in distance at Doomben.

Mishani Hustler was accepted for the two divisions of the three-year-old handicap over 1050m and 1350m on Saturday.

“We accepted in both on the basis of waiting to see where he drew before making a decision,” trainer Ben Currie said.

“When he drew barrier one in the 1050 metre race and nine in the other it made the choice easy.”

Mishani Hustler’s four wins have been over 1200m including the Listed Dalrello Stakes in April last year.

He has had two starts this summer for a creditable fifth in the open company Listed Falvelon Quality on December 29 before finishing fourth against his own age at Eagle Farm three weeks ago.

“We have booked Corey Bayliss to claim three kilos and he likes Doomben,” Currie said.

The state’s leading trainer, Currie brought up his 96th overall winner for the season when Little John and Takings won at Ipswich on Wednesday.
