Barrier draw crucial in Queensland Oaks
The barrier draw is expected to have a bearing on the betting picture for the Queensland Oaks.
The Group One race at Eagle Farm on Saturday is one of the most open in recent history.
With the final field and barriers to be finalised on Wednesday, there are four fillies, Dawnie Perfect, Falkenberg, Imposing Lass and Romantic Maid, sharing favouritism at $7.
Another three – Ambience, Provocative and Self Esteem – share the second line at $9 with five at $12 including last start South Australian Fillies Classic winner Chabaud.
Provocative sits at number 19 in the order of entry for Saturday’s 2400m-race which has a field limit of 18 plus five emergencies.
If Provocative doesn’t make the cut for Saturday’s race she will instead run in the 2200m Eagle Farm Cup and back up in the Queensland Derby on Saturday week.
Heavy rain is forecast for Saturday’s reopening of the Eagle Farm track which will hold its first meeting for 653 days.
