Australian mare Winx the world’s best

Australian mare Winx is officially the best in the world, joining California Chrome at the top of the latest rankings.

Winx and California Chrome are both rated 126 in the World’s Best Racehorse Rankings for performances between January 1 and April 10.

The Chris Waller-trained Winx earned the top mark for her win in the Doncaster Mile, her sixth Group One victory, while American horse California Chrome’s Dubai World Cup win sealed his spot.

Dual TJ Smith Stakes winner Chautauqua is equal fourth and the highest-rated sprinter on 121.

Queensland star Buffering is equal eighth on the list, reaching a career-high 119 for his win in the Al Quoz Sprint at the Dubai World Cup meeting.

The two Australian speedsters will line up against each other in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize in Hong Kong next month.
