Arrogate heading to Dubai to complete historic World Cup double

Arrogate
PEGASUS World Cup winner Arrogate has been installed as the $1.40 favourite for the Dubai World Cup at Sportsbet.com.au after confirmation the world’s best racehorse will make the journey to the United Arab Emirates.

Star local runner Mubtaahij ($9) is the only other horse in single figures at Sportsbet.com.au

Trainer Bob Baffert had previously indicated his the superstar four-year-old would not make the trip to the middle-east after taking out the Pegasus, but the stable all but guaranteed Arrogate will compete at Meydan racecourse.

“I just got the word. As long as he keeps working well he’s going,” Baffert confirmed on Monday (US time), via the Blood Horse.

“He looked great [in trackwork at Santa Anita]. I’m really happy the way he’s come out of that race [in January].”

Baffert said the horse has recovered better than expected from its sparkling display in the Pegasus World Cup.

“He hasn’t regressed or anything, he looked fantastic. He’s enjoying himself, and he did it the right way. I’m really happy with the way he’s going. He’s just holding his form very well.”

Arrogate has won six of its seven starts, including winning the Group 1 Travers Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Classic, before sending off former American racehorse of the year California Chrome as a loser in the inaugural Pegasus World Cup.
