Ardrossan out of Canterbury Stakes
Group One performer Ardrossan has been withdrawn from the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick on Saturday after recording an elevated temperature upon arrival in Sydney earlier this week.
“He travelled over on Monday night and had a bit of a temperature and his blood wasn’t 100 percent,” trainer Stephen Marsh said.
“It doesn’t look to be major. The vets are pretty confident he is going to bounce back really quickly.
“We have pulled him out of this Saturday and he will now run in a Group Three 1100m (Maurice McCarten Stakes) at Rosehill next Saturday with James McDonald on. So not all is lost.
“It will be a pretty decent assignment first up in Australia this time in, so it looks a lot easier next week.”

Meanwhile, Marsh said Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) winner Crown Prosecutor and stablemate Vernanme have both pulled up well after the race.
The pair will now head to Sydney where they will be set on differing paths towards the Gr.1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick next month.
“They both pulled up brilliantly (after the New Zealand Derby), you cannot fault them at all,” Marsh said.
“They don’t seem to have taken any harm from the run whatsoever.
“They will both head to Sydney and at this stage it looks like we will run Vernanme in the Rosehill Guineas (G1, 2000m) and we will run Crown Prosecutor in the Tulloch (G2, 2000m) and then both horses could take their place in the Derby.”
