Another week of high-quality racing begins on Monday, starting with a nine-race card at Ararat in the Victorian Goldfields. Rain is forecasted for the morning of race day, meaning a downgrade from the current Soft 7 rating is a distinct possibility. The first race is set to jump at 12:55pm AEST, while the rail is set in the true position.
Monday racing tips for Ararat
Clever Approach was every chance of holding out a plunge horse last start at Donald when stepping up to 2000m for the first time in Australia. He remains at that distance for this run and looks hard to beat. From barrier four he’ll be afforded another economical run, which should be good enough considering he’s the best galloper in this field. He’s approaching peak fitness third up and should break the maiden at his 10th start.

We are forgiving this filly’s last run at Donald when getting back on top of the ground after breaking through at Tatura on Heavy going. Despite having every chance to record her second win, she finished fifth by just over a length to the well-supported Hay Cliffy. She has only missed the placings once at this distance and looks well placed to get her second career win on the board. Barrier 14 shouldn’t prove an issue for this 3YO who maps to be up on the pace anyway.

Cold Beers was superb last start at Hamilton when breaking through for her second career win. The quick backup is nothing unusual for this galloper as she has done it twice already this campaign, most notably two back-to-back second placings in the last week of July. If she is afforded the same run she got last time, then she looks nice value here in the penultimate race on the card.
