Apprentice has suspension varied to fine
Apprentice Ben Thompson has had a 12-meeting suspension varied to a $300 fine on appeal.
Thompson was suspended at Moe on Tuesday when found guilty of failing to ride his mount, third placed Treicheln, out over the final three strides in a race, which stewards believed cost him second place instead of third.
Thompson appealed the severity of the penalty on Friday at the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board which overturned the suspension.
